Romans 8:28 | Is God REALLY in control of all things? | Baptism Sunday

The next study in our series in Romans (Romans 8:28) begins with an immensely confident statement familiar to many of us: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose” (v. 28). The text is so familiar that sometimes we do not even take time to say it, we just quote the reference. “Having trouble today, my friend? Well, remember Romans 8:28. Chin up!” It is good advice, although I am not sure it should be used so casually. For one thing, the text is for Christians only, “those who love God”—that is, those who have experienced the love of God and have responded to it. Romans 8:28 has become so popular that even those with no faith in Christ obtain from it a false security. This is tragic. Believers, however, can wrap their souls in it. Join us Sunday as we continue our study in Romans!
