John D. Rockefeller, was once asked “How much is enough?” To which he famously replied, “Just one more dollar!” Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, most people still believe that money brings happiness. If we’re always chasing more and never content with what we have, we can be caught in an endless cycle that ends in ruin, destruction, and unhappiness. In this week’s passage, Paul warns us that the “love of money is the root of all kinds of evil”, even causing some to wander from the faith.
