Romans 14:1-12 | Knowing When to Judge - VBS Celebration Service (11:00am)

When a person learns about the gospel, the knowledge is overwhelming. People realize they have been saved from condemnation and given eternal life—indeed, even given the title of coheir with Christ. Such blessings are almost surreal. Soon after embracing Christ and making a profession of faith, people then begin to learn more about the Scriptures and basic doctrine—we find ourselves living our faith in the mundane day in, day out circumstances of life. At some point, we may find themselves in disagreements, not over some of the greatest and grandest doctrines of Scripture, such as justification or the inerrancy of Scripture, but about something as ordinary as food or feast days. In all this, these matters, what should characterize the genuine believer in Christ is not compromise, but love. We can hold firm to the truths of Scripture but do it in a way that shows deference for our brother or sister in Christ. This is the essence of true Christianity lived out in genuine authentic Christian community.
